A Great Gumbo Weekend is Coming Your Way.......

On Friday, October 7 beginning at 6:30 PM there will be music, hamburgers and red beans and rice!

On Saturday, October 8 beginning at 11:00 AM there will be music, a Creole/Cajun food festival with 50 booths serving anything but gumbo!; downtown shopping; Shadows on the Teche and The Bayou Teche Museum will both be open on Saturday. The Main Event at 125 West Main will hold your packages for you!! (What a great idea!) Check back for more details.

On Sunday, October 9 the "Gumbo Police" set out at 5:30. The "Start Your Roux" signal goes off at 6:00 AM, by 11:00 AM the gumbo tasting begins!! What a day! Booths are judged for decorations, team spirit, and skits. There's great music from 10:00 AM til 3:30 PM. Winners are announced at 3:30.

No gate fees!!! Water, soft drinks, beer and Bloody Mary's will be sold as well as food tickets.
Event posters and T-shirts and gumbo merchandise will be available for purchase.
No ice chests. No pets.

They Got Some Mean Red Beans!

You hear it all the time. "I've got the best red beans!" Now we know. Thanks to Kernis Louviere with Krewe of Lou and Walther Voorhies of Uncle's Barbecue Sauce a red bean cook off was incorporated into the Saturday morning events of this year's gumbo cook off and the score was settled--at least for now! The meanest beans award went to Acadiana Hydraulic Works, second place to Community First Bank and third place to Unlimited Machines.
